I thank you for visiting my website. Since I realize that the prospect of finding a therapist can feel daunting, I created this site to provide potential clients with a clear and concise understanding of how I can work with you to achieve your therapeutic goals. I hope we can work together to make these goals a reality

When to consider therapy:

The decision to enter therapy often reflects one's desire to make big or small changes in his or her life in a safe, nonjudgmental, and empathetic environment. As social creatures, we sometimes long to feel understood and supported as we explore courses that might require us to try new things in order to grow. As we all know, change can feel scary and intimidating.

While therapeutic goals are unique to each individual, they might include a desire to:

-improve relationships

-- reduce nonconstructive thought patterns

-- cope with various losses including the death of a love one, divorce and relationships **including the loss of a beloved pet**

--reduce anxiety

--improve mood

--deal with various life adjustments including career changes, geographic relocation and relationship issues.

--cope with the changes that occur during and after pregnancy

--explore issues relating to sexual identity

--feel understood

Most of us possess a keenly accurate internal radar that guides us toward a decision to seek professional guidance to improve one's quality of life when past attempts do not deliver the desired results.. IIf you are looking at my website, your radar may suggest to you that you are ready to try psychotherapy.

How Therapy Can Help:

Psychotherapy provides patients with a unique opportunity to increase their self-awareness and live more authentically in order to to make changes to improve their quality of life. The process occurs in the context of a private setting with a trained and empathic professional. The forty-five minute session provides patients with emotional space in which they can examine their therapeutic goals in the context of past and present feelings and experiences. The clinician provides the patient with interpretations of events and behaviors, guides the patient to explore feelings that have not been expressed and provides the patient with insight regarding patterns as they become apparent. The clinician also guides the client to examine issues from a variety of perspectives. The therapeutic relationship, which serves as a representation or all significant relationships, allows the patient and therapist to become aware of how important relationships in the past and present impact one's behaviors.
